A braided whip or quirt made from the ends of reins. Blevins indicates that these whips were about three feet long and were commonly used by Californios. The DRAE gives several descriptive entries, including a halter attached to an animal's cavesson. Cobos glosses it as a rope or a leash attached to a horse's reins. -
